Remix Sunday

For those still not familiar with him, Sportsday Megaphone = man + guitar + computer, to create some very catchy pop/electronic tracks and remixes from artists including Envelopes, The Rumble Strips, and Malcolm Middleton. His latest remix comes from Operator Please, and their track 'Get what you want'. He currently has shows coming up at the end of February in Edinburgh and Stockholm in early March.

Operator Please - Get what you want (Sportsday Megaphone Remix)
Malcolm Middleton - We're all going to Die (Sportsday Megaphone Remix)

This Remix Sunday also includes an exclusive BTA track brought to us by DJ Legit. This Toronto born, now Montreal based DJ has been unleashing beats and remixes for years, and is now set to release his first remix album. This is a great, and somewhat humorous beat over an old classic.

The Grass is Always Greener...

Straight out of the United Kingdom comes Nic Nell. Remixologist (yes..it's a word..trust me) and artist in his own right, he's currently dropped a remix for Friendly Fires track 'On Board'. Too bad he was just a little too late to have it added on their remix 12 inch which was released this week. This, along with his own track entitled 'It's a trance off', have been in heavy rotation on my playlist since I received them. Fans of DJ Copy and Sportsday Megaphone will take a shine to his fast paced 8-bit melodies and thundering electro beats. Although the blazing tempo is a little more than what I usually pick up on, he definitley makes it work. Checking out the other tracks on his myspace will show further versatility in his work such as on 'I love robots but they', which is surprisingly different from these other tracks, in a good way. Nic Nell's first single drops in January on Salvia / XL Recordings. Definitely keep an eye open for it.

Sportsday Megaphone

I swear, one day my computer is just going to start laying down beats while I sleep. Because as London based Hugh Frost a.k.a Sportsday Megaphone is demonstrating, nowadays all you need is one guy, a guitar, and a laptop to make some of the newest and catchiest indie pop-rock. How long until the computers take out that pesky human element that keeps them from acheiving some kind of calculated musical perfection? All you UK people need to take in one of his upcoming sets. Jealous of my friends across the pond? No...they are simply dead to me. It's easier this way.

Less and Less EP available now on iTunes and directly from Sunday Best.
