Lil' Wayne, Drake, Eminem, Travis Barker kill it.

Now I really don't care about the Grammy's too much, but I had to watch it just so I could see the crazy performance of 'Drop the world' and 'Forever' by the power house of Weezy, Drake and Eminem. To top it off Travis Barker rocking the kit. I guess Kanye isn't invited to things like this anymore. He probably would've walked down and punched Taylor Swift in the mouth or something. Whoever runs the Grammy's was very uncool and took down the footage from youtube, but not even they could stop mother Russia, and this random link I found. The audio blanks out every once in a while because of all the naughty words.

* Forget the Russians, here's an uncensored video of it that I came across instead.

Weezer feat. Weezy...WTF?!?

I want to like Weezer, I really do, and every album I give them a fair chance. Raditude's MO aims for the charts. I'm talking Top-40, with the track "Can't Stop Partying" feat. Lil' Wayne, the band has no qualms about rubbing shoulders club tracks. No matter what, I'll always have a soft spot for the =w=, but it's a love-hate relationship.
It's worth a listen.

New Music Monday: T-dot's Drake Drizzle

From Canadian television fame straight to hip-hop's rookie of the year, Drake has made quite an impact on the scene in the past year. From internet mixtapes, to tracks with Lil Wayne, and ultimately a spot with Young Money Entertainment, Drake took the fastlane to a career in hip-hop. Ultimately, this caused many to be skeptical of his talents/intentions, myself included.
Well, Aubrey Graham a.k.a. Drake lives up to expectations in his first full-length solo release. A well-paced and clever album, he lets Kanye-influenced production support his rhymes. There are some gems on this album, including a patient "Houstatlantavegas" and good version of Peter, Bjorn, and John's "Let's Call It Off", and the hot single "Best I Ever Had".
Drake will continue to grow as an artist hopefully bringing a more fluid delivery of his verses and lines that dive deeper into his potential as a rapper. Since Jay-Z declared the death of autotune (check the new video for the track here), could this be the obituary; Drake's use of the production tool is tasteful and mature. As he grows as an artist, this will be a solid foundation.

Remix Sunday: The Next Generation...

So, you're the star of an 80's remake-edu-drama series centred around high school years and your character is closing in on graduation, what do you do?  Apparently, you start a music career.  That is what Degrassi: The Next Generation star, Aubrey Graham has done.  So far, he's caught the attention of Lil' Wayne's label Young Money Records.  Word is that he has signed and currently in the middle of recording.  Maybe it will be out in time for graduation.  In all seriousness, good for him and his remix of Lykke Li's "A little bit" is solid.
Lykke Li is definitely one of the most unique and interesting artists out there and here's a video of her "lo-fi" version of "I'm Good, I'm Gone".  I'm hoping to catch Lykke in Montreal on February 4th at Club Soda.

Lil Wanye Surprises Me Every Day

Really all you need to watch is after 3 minutes 30 seconds.

And in other news, whose sex is on fire? The new Kings of Leon record leaked about a week ago and it's a solid effort by the Followill boys. But as my good friend bbbykmbrly. put it, "There's alot of Knocked Up and not enough Charmer". I have to agree, but more Kings later; for now just continue laughing hysterically at the epic guitar solo provided by Mr. Lollipop.

Remix Sunday

This one's tougher than Nigerian hair, as he says it. The original track is pretty vicious, but also with the Dubbel Dutch beat stuttering along for the remix. Can't really top Bangladesh's original beat, though this remix has its upside. Most notably the "A Milli" sample is gone (*or so I thought before hearing it with some phones, it's barely audible), with sounds of dying electronics and power loss throughout. The lyrics make both versions work, as Wayne goes on endless tangents: "Andre 3000 where is Erykah Badu at?" "ok you're a goon, but what's a goon to a GOBLIN" "tell the coppers HAHAHA", ha, that last making him sound like a 30's mobster. Have a listen to both.
